Just a quick note before starting this post: Two days ago, my blog became exactly one year old. Thank you Timehop for reminding me, or I would’ve totally forgotten. And thank you to all my loyal readers who have sticked with me since the beginning. And thanks to all the new readers too, for taking the time to discover this blog and for your great feedback. I hope to add several more years as I still enjoy writing here as much as on day one. So from the bottom of my heart: thank you.
A month or so ago I was browsing the local IPXL to buy something with a gift voucher my dear mom gave me for Christmas. I really wanted to buy something that would last me a long time & that I really wanted, so I thought it through and took my time to check out the collections. I knew I still needed a good highlighting brush, so I compared some brands and was convinced that I needed a Chanel brush in my life. The #4 seemed like a great highlighting brush, and I was so right! This one is perfect for delicately adding that highlighter to define your cheekbones & nose bridge.
So it’s called a blush brush. Whatevs, this would be way too small to be my blush brush! I guess it kind of depends on how you like to apply blusher? After some Googling I did discover that this is indeed mainly intended for highlighting & contouring - so just don’t mind the name, kay?
The brush comes in a soft velvet pouch with the Chanel logo imprinted on it. This is great for traveling, because you wouldn’t want your expensive brush to get all mixed up (and icky) with all sorts of other make-up products.
The bristles (natural hair!) are very soft and feel great on my skin. No roughness whatsoever. Notice how the brush is quite flat and tapered at the end? It’s perfect for precision highlighting! The brush picks up my favorite highlighters (Dior Nude Shimmer & Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick) extremely well and leaves just the right amount of shimmer behind.
Overall I really do love the brush and I haven’t regretted buying it at all! I do however still have that gift voucher, as I was so busy chatting to the sales representative about brushes I totally forgot about using my voucher (and coupon, sob). Luckily I’m already eyeing something else, so expect a voucher update soon.
What are your favorite brush brands? And if you would recommend me one particular brush, which one would it be? (brushoholic over here!)
